How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Were they going to get the one thing we said we wanted? Before this started, did you actually want Republicans to give in on health care, or did you want Dems to have it as an issue for the election because people need to touch the stove?

as you asking me? I pay for my family's health insurance on the exchange and it's now going to double so yes. I very much wanted this issue and fuck them for giving up for literally nothing.

I was asking you and the many people saying roughly the same thing as you. It is dispiriting and shitty, but like honestly the main thing that happened here is that Republicans were willing to keep the government closed forever to keep you from having affordable healthcare.

I do think this particular sort of ignominious surrender at a moment when public opinion was behind Dems was not ideal, but ultimately I think that's a debate over optics more than a debate over the ultimate outcome.
