In Canada, political donations are much more tax-deductible. One religion even became a political party (as Revenue Canada saw) to take advantage of this. Agree churches must stay out of partisan politics. But not stay out of preaching & enacting social justice implications of the Gospel.

Our church is so poor we barely make it.

We need to bring back respect for the country and the people. Parents used to teach their kids to respect the Constitution and their Church by keeping religion out of the public square. Jesus told his followers to respect their religion but these hacks have never read their "Good Book".

How about taxing over a certain amount of income, and treating as income any benefits from business type enterprises such as books, vids, speaking engagements, etc.? Most small/medium churches have no such income, cannot meet such thresholds.
