Wholly undeserving of it's poor box office receipts, it's worth trying to catch this in a cinema. It's initial tone is quite OTT, but the real film subtly creeps in until a real 'Wait, what?' moment, and from there it's brilliant, well observed and funny.

With David Ellison's Skydance taking control of Warner Bros, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s's Digger may be the last gasp of free speech in cinema. With a stunning Tom Cruise performance, this satirises oil oligarchs and liberal arts in equal measures; a 5/5 masterpiece. film-authority.com/2026/10/03/d...

We are small but merry band. I was initially confused as to what was going on, I thought this was a film about an oligarch not an actor playing one. But these fourth wall breaks become increasingly resonant. Sure, this isn’t for Cruise’s usual audience but if you give it a chance, it’s a good film.
