ChatGPT o3 has genuinely saved me a bunch of time in the last week or so doing rather tedious stuff. It's practical benefits like this that I think are going to be far more common uses for LLMs. They're useful without the hype-laden futurist nonsense.

For example, last night I gave it a photo of my bathroom sink faucet and asked it for the model (Moen Gibson 6145BL, it turns out), then asked it to find where I can buy the aerator it needs before locking my phone and going to bed. In the morning I had a link to the Amazon listing. Task done. ✅

Last week I asked o3 to figure out what I needed to do to get my Mitsubishi/American Standard mini split to lower the humidity in the room. I needed a humidity sensor. It found the part and pointed me to a few places to buy it online. Saved me hours of digging through inscrutable manuals.

I'll note re: the humidity sensor, I used 4o to extract the model numbers from a photo I took of the bottom of the unit. And yes, it got the right part. I installed it on Thursday. ✅
