I don't mean to be alarmist, but I am seeing a lot of people thinking way too small about the incoming President’s plans and intentions. He plans to use the military to round up dissidents on day one. It's plausible that things we've said online will be used to justify incarceration without trial.

He has already started dismantling the system of checks and balances that our country was founded on. The Supreme Court has already demonstrated that it is loyal to him and his inauguration will only embolden them. Lower courts will have loyalists installed to manipulate justice further.

Congress has already started to bail on its duties to check the President, flirting with the idea of abandoning their duty to review and approve nominees as news breaks that his team will forego FBI background checks on nominees.

It's possible that we'll see food rationed by the gov't after winding up in short supply due to disastrous policies (deportations, pesticide bans, import and export bans). This provides Trump leverage because he can reward loyalists further.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. The notion that this is a 4-year stint we have to hold strong for and then it's over places a lot of faith in institutions that are being dismantled. It's unlikely we see another fair election for a long time in the U.S., and why would we?
