This is a sobering reminder of how fragile public health can be, especially for vulnerable groups. 🦠 For those over 65 or with underlying conditions, staying informed and proactive about health risks is crucial. Practice good hygiene (bird flu can spread through infected surfaces/animals).

A huge difference between bird flu victims here in Canada and your American victim of bird flu. Here, our victim was young and is recovering and we have a GREAT publicly funded healthcare system compared to an old man in a profiteering DEATH Management system in America.

I trust a red state to report medical reality as much as I trust a Hannibal Lector potluck dish. "He was old and sick! Believe me!" We all endured the same avalanche of bullshit; We saw it under Pandemic Don, it'll be gone by summer. If Bird Flu mutates with 40-Fiven at the helm we're fucked.

Just in time for the Orange Idiot and Republicans to kill people. Whether it's starving them to death or taking healthcare and Social Security away. Stop voting for people who want you dead (aka)Republicans.

Definitely won't overshadow trump he will just ignore it till it's killing thousands a day, then deny it even exists.

"Over 65"... Including that info is intentional. It's what was used to downplay C19, and here we go again. Ageist and ableist language, to make it "okay" that it happened. Shame on LADH and everyone one else publishing this.

Americans are in luck. If this bird flu becomes another pandemic, we have Trump coming back to save us from harm. First, eliminate all public health institutions with skills and experience. Second, make sure the public has plenty of bleach for injecting.

Oh good, we're back to manufacturing consent by reassuring everyone that only old and disabled people get killed by our most recent foray into having a fucking massive brutal plague. The Jackpot fucking sucks, WG I wish you weren't so right all the time. >:|

GOOD PLACE TO START...MOVE SOUTH....GET THOSE HURRICANES BACK TOO AND WASH AWAY ALL THE HATE, LIES, BIGOTRY, HOMOPHOBIA & RACISM....SO SICK OF REPUBLICANS & ANTI VAX BS & MISINFORMATION 🤬🖕

“Underlying conditions” is code for anything from “slightly overweight” to “depression” and “over 65” is pretty young to be dying from an infection of any sort in this day and age. Bird flu is serious business, even if people don’t think much of it because it doesn’t have a fancy name.

OMG. So, we’re back to the tired, old argument - he was old and sick, so he deserved to die from the bird flu because something was going to get him soon. His age and underlying conditions don’t matter. We have a human death from this disease and need to mitigate its transmission. That’s the story.

In news from countries with well developed healthcare systems - I got my first bird flu vaccine about ten years ago. The reaction to that first one laid me out for a couple of days, the same for others I know. If it does roll out in the US, expect lots of scare stories and conspiracy led panic.

oh then that makes it ok so what you’re saying is anybody older or has underlying conditions should die where are we? I hate this place. I have fought for my life for six years and I’m just disposable I guess.

The officials say that the patient in Louisiana who died of H5N1 bird flu “was older than 65 and had underlying medical conditions,” and while these comments are clearly meant to assuage public fears, that officials are already minimizing this death is really rather frightening.

Most people over 65 have underlying medical conditions. What is the CDC and the incoming nominees with no medical background doing to prevent bird flu becoming the next pandemic? Oh right. Nothing for us, only for the friends at MAL.

It's not prep time yet but when reports of people dying from a mysterious illness in China, I stocked up but only things I ended up using anyway like a lot of extra TP, non-perishable food, etc. and it made the time during the pandemic a lot easier while not being wasteful.

Maybe not. The Dems will take the appropriate precautions, and the Reps will not. We know where that'll lead. With fewer Reps alive to vote... 🌊🌊🌊

Uh huh... "As President-elect Donald Trump comes into office in January, farmworkers may be even less protected. Trump’s pledge of mass deportations will have repercussions whether they happen or not, said Tania Pacheco-Werner, director of the Central Valley Health Policy Institute in California."

I didn't think that last time. Only thinking of it now because of the whole Rep response to the pandemic. Seemed like they didn't want to take any precautions. As for where we are now, there are many reasons for that besides the pandemic.

Perhaps not. avian flu is rare in humans, with person to person transmission being just as rare, but viruses can mutate and this can change quickly. In a Voice of America article published just three days ago, 66 human cases have been reported since the start of 2024.+

Protect us all by getting your regular flu vaccine too. A big risk for humans is someone getting BOTH the bird flu & another flu at the same time, increasing the chance of mutations that make it easier to transmit the bird flu from person to person.

It's God's punishment for voting Satan into power. Sensible folk will follow the correct safety procedures and take their vaccines. Maga voters will see it all as a conspiracy and get wiped out. Good on them. Should free up some housing and open some jobs up. Cracking.

Never seen public health reported in such an obviously ageist manner. What were the ages of the previous survivors? Were they healthy or did they have any conditions? How severe were their conditions etc etc

If this becomes a human pandemic, it will be so much worse this time. People in most of the US will not abide shutdowns, or wear masks, none of it. I'd be ok if that would only kill the asshats, but that's not how disease works. Bigly sad.

Why does CNN always report this way? Who doesn't have underlying conditions? We need socialist public health now, no insurance companies or for profit hospitals. It's as critical as basic sanitation given the massive global economy and urbanization.

It’s not only CNN. NYT and the Guardian included the same description in their reporting . Bottom line - the patient would still be alive if not for contracting H5N1. They used the same BS line re: CoVid

Pity about the death but encouraging that there were underlying conditions that MAGAtards/RFK Jr will use to justify why the bird flu is a false flag and not something that they need to vaccinate against. If you can't bring their numbers down with reason, bring them down through willful ignorance.

AND Louisiana’s State Department of HEALTH in NO LONGER having Flu, COVID and Monkey Pox VACCINE CLINICS or providing Any Education on the BENEFITS of Vaccines!!!! Great Place for GROUND Zero of the Next Pandemic in the United States of America!!!!

We’re on the brink of a dangerous pandemic. Here is a template for reaching out to decision-makers—it takes just 5 minutes to send the letter—act NOW! before Trump and RFK Jr. take over the office. 🙏 Share this with everyone you know.😷 medium.com/@natalia.yud...

medium.comA new pandemic looming? We are standing on the brink of a new global pandemic. H5N1, the highly pathogenic bird flu, is spreading rapidly across the globe…

Yeah sure an underlying medical condition exactly what are we talking about here ? Inquiring minds want to know......it is going to be really bad, much worst than the previous cluster F*&u*&ck.

Trump and RFK will probably try to make sure it is a pandemic because they want people to die off. Watching others suffer and die because of them is something that probably turns both of those psychos on.

Terrific. Trump taking office with RFK Jr. and Trump wants to ditch the CDC. He has a #AntiVaxxer running it. They’ll have total control of the media and what information gets out. So, if #H5N1 does become a problem… we probably won’t even know about it.
