Bluesky lazyweb question: If I change my handle here to a domain, what happens to existing links to my old posts? If I copy a link to one of my existing posts, it includes "cdwilson.bsky.social" in the URL slug. What happens to old links if somebody else picks up that username after I abandon it?

They still work. If you examine the underlying post record, the mention is actually a did reference, not a handle reference. Old posts will display the new handle.

No. A MENTION uses the d.i.d., but bare bluesky URLs posted to other forums will be broken on a handle change. Ya *can* replace a handle in the URL with the d.i.d. to create a permalink, but it's not that way by default.

Thanks for pointing that out! seems like it kind of defeats the whole point of having d.i.d's... am I missing something? why doesn't the "Copy link to post" use the d.i.d. instead of the handle?
