Found this on TikTok and it made me emotional ❤️ Artists create universes from nothing. Being an animator is an intimate understanding of life, environments, physics, what it MEANS to be alive, and the ability to convey the beauty within our world in seconds.

I always say that the only reason you see such a big push for AI slop besides the obvious profit motives is because a lot of these people understand intrinsically that artists bring something truly unique to the table They're struggling in vain to replicate it, but it simply cannot be done.

Oh not at all, 2D animation is still very alive. There’s plenty of animated films that came after Disney’s Hercules (1997) Mulan, Brother bear, Spirit, Lion King 2, emperors new groove, etc. The lasts 2D film by Disney was Winnie the Pooh (2011). Studios still produce 2D films (ex: Ghibli)

Using Disney as a litmus test for 2D animation’s “life” isn’t a fair one, private studios exist everywhere that still create and animate 2D feature films! :)

Art will never be taken by AI. Art is the human condition, without that it feels fake and is a cheap version of actual art created, bled, and created by humans with a vision.

There’s technical things about animation that can be imitated but how does one know how long to hold a shot to convey longing? What kind of movement shows weakness or strength? It’s all kinds of human intuition and imagination that makes animation an art. Those can’t be imitated.

Also i feel like Ai Bro's who say "artists are gonna be replaced by Ai" don't understand that we don't do arts because of the money. It's a passion and creative people will always create. We'll aways make movies, artworks and tell stories because we want to, because it's fun (mostly) and helps us

They don't get that only because they want to monitize "their work" and they only think about success and money, we also do, but that's not the reason artists create. No Ai can replace us really. There is a risk of people losing their jobs because of this bs which sucks, but we'll not stop doing art

I think the main reason that AI bros think that their abominable intelligence has a chance is that they fundamentally dont understand how an artist can pour their soul into a project and how that raw expression of emotion and dedication can instantly be felt by those experiencing their works.

Even in this world where speed and quantity are obsessed over Artists of every variety have always persisted and will continue to, we have existed from the dawn of humanity in its earliest forms and we will continue to exist until humanities end no matter how the greedy try to replace or exploit us

Things absolutely totally suck in the art industry right now. I’m not downplaying that at all, but god damn does it feel good to be an artist. I have such immense pride in everything I’ve learned, and everything I see my peers creating.

We are artists. We are humans. We create the things that do not exist without us. New worlds, new characters, new interpretations. I don't do art for work. Just a small time hobby. But AI will NEVER be able to make my world or my characters on its own. And no machine can take that away from me.

From the moment that sun rose in the opening seconds of The Lion King three decades ago, animation has had me spellbound. What artists can do is magical and profound.

AI in several more iterations may be able to imitate the styles of these with few mistakes, but the thing about being an artist, especially one who also writes a little, is "I've decided my cat character has a tiny heart-shaped black spot on their left cheek" may never be replaced.

All of those animated films have one thing in common, a soul. Created by tens, or even hundreds of artists who put so much effect into making these films come to life in a variety of ways. AI generated slop is just cheesy, dull, broken, and lifeless. They lack passion, fulfilment, and soul

Watching through dozens of clips from animation over decades pierced into my very soul. I remember how I felt in almost all of these moments, the emotion, the passion, love and pain that these moments brought. AI will never take that away from us.

This hit so many of my favorite movies and shows and made me remember the intense emotions I felt from each of them. Art is human and vitally important to the human experience. When you remove the humanity you lose the art, plain and simple.

What is the cat at 1:01 from? I recognize almost all of these but that one's a mystery to me Anyway thank you for this post, I love our real animators and AI can never replace what they do

Even the term 'AI art' is bothersome. Birdsongs aren't art, nor are spiderwebs or flowerbeds. Nature can have artful value, but it lacks intent/inner meaning for its work to be art. Same thing goes for amalgamative/iterative software.

Making me tear up… it’s amazing how many of these visuals instantly bring the emotion I experienced watching these scenes back to me. It was such a strong and beautiful thing that it’s still in my heart. The vision and creativity of these artists is amazing.

AI will never transport true emotions that touch your heart and soul, cause it is made without a heart and soul. It just generates instead of create, because create comes from creativity. And creativity always comes with love. , ❤️

video gives me tinglies :D. i don't really do visual medium stuff, but I do enjoy it :) Cos experience is everything, not just one part, and how it all comes together :D animation is the one out eyes see and it's the one that we look to blend all the feelings togethers :D

AI art is not and never will be art. There were a handful of good things to come from this tech, namely stuff like Alphafold, but the rest is straight junk and should be binned.

It's also simply that our current AI models cannot make a whole animated movie. Sure they get more realistic, sure they can make hands now, but there is no fighting the energy cost. There is no making it cheaper. What they're doing NOW requires buildings the size of cities. it's a scalability issue

Can we talk about how EBSynth is essentially the absolute best case sceneario for computation as a tool in animation, because the artist still has to do the art, but somehow that wasn't enough?

Saw this edit on Instagram as well and it also made me happy that it included my favorite underrated/obscure/generally disliked animated media as well. No matter how hated my favorite shows/movies are I’ll always take comfort that someone will appreciate them as actual art, not ai slop

It was the same thing that happened with photography and painters and look at us now, that doesn't limit them from the fact that their work is appreciated and has soul, in addition to having a lot of inspiration...

There's no way for AI to replace creativity. I've just started working on making art myself and the satisfaction and pride of be able to actually be creative is something I wish I'd been able to feel for decades. The creatives and artists will always be the top of the game.

What if the joy and pain of making art, or even just knowing it was made, is something you can't make artificially What if the making of the art is just as valuable as the end result

plus I think stop motion is an excellent example of why ai will never fully take over, there are faster and cheaper ways to animate than that, but there are still studios that make stop motion films, and they are loved, and we admire the work put into them.

Animation is the closest we will ever be to gods, where we can create entire univeres of our dreams. AI is a demon that is trying to corrupt the soul of humanity, and needs to be heavily regulated NOW.

Art is human 💜 Its all the time we spent crumbling up pieces of paper to get the perfect sketch. The times we pulled out hair out learning the basics and the time put into it developing an eye to bring a creation to life. The soul shows in the final product and always will.
