The day we gave up trying to win 2 titles by selling Tani without a loan back is the day everything changed. We gave up a US Open Cup/MLS Cup shot for an extra couple mil. In a year both LA teams were down. More Twins than even the Twins. Was the day the music died.

The one thing that changed my opinion of that deal — which definitely put a cap on the season, agreed there — is that Tani wanted to go. Once the bid over $7m came in, he asked the team to take it. If we want good young players to come here, we have to be willing to sell them on to bigger things.

We needed him for the last 3 months of the year. I agree you sell him & allow him to pursue his dream, but they had to be firm the club has an opportunity to win big trophies the last 3 months. There’s no point otherwise. In 10 years we’ll still be looking at an empty trophy room wondering what if.
