I think it's important to read the story all the way when we compare this to the industrial revolution. Machinists decimated in the workforce, but still a thriving community to this day of people who use classical tooling because it is actually good enough, and their are people who like it.

I've seen a lot of people laugh at anti AI programmers saying they make "artisinal organic vegan" etc. code. And I think they genuinely forget that it's absolutely a craft that will continue to exist just like every other. My sister does book binding, my brother does screen printing, my mother draws
