Since our last update, we've shipped new features including: • custom feeds • blocks and mutelists • more fine-grained content moderation controls • custom domains as handles • production desktop app • invite codes per account • accessibility improvements • app passwords

We staffed a content moderation team with shifts that cover a 24/7 schedule, and consulted with trust and safety experts to establish new processes and policies to support a growing userbase. We also send out daily invites to the waitlist.

Suggestion for custom feeds: there is a need for clearer documentation around how to deploy these, and for more docs around the architecture of BlueSky more generally. Going to 🧵 here about some misapprehensions that devs new to the ecosystem could have:

I and some devs in NYC were initially under the impression that a custom feed could act like a high-level filter (ie, something possible to only implement on the frontend), as it wasn’t immediately clear that deploying a custom feed requires you to host your own infrastructure to do so

I get that this may be part of the favoring of “decentralized” architecture more generally, but it seems a bit overly complex and expensive to have to copy posts into your own database, filter them there, and then serve them out again.
