I -DO- think “Instagram” is an interesting app…but I’m more interested in the “small business, artist and creator visual updates” parts of it, rather than the “it’s just a photo posting app” parts. Can you make something that really works for small biz, that’s different than today’s IG?

That’s the big platform clones theory. I like the 1000 apps theory: Eventbrite, Luma @smokesignal.events Hackernews, Reddit @frontpage.fyi Goodreads, Letterboxd - Bookhive, Skylights Recipes @recipe.exchange @zicklag.katharos.group is doing some interesting hybrid discord-like chat stuff.

I’ll add “geographically local” because that’s typically where they’re trying to reach and competing with a global algorithm is pointless. Restaurants and other small biz with opening hours and physical locations.

It’s been my experience that the website rarely has updates and certainly doesn’t get just in time posts. Check IG: Photo post of holiday hours. Making it someone’s job to make updates on IG seems more prevalent than updating the website.

Yes, e.g. daily menus from restaurants / cafes (as in: what’s for lunch) some are updating their website, most aren’t. Super niche, but would be great to have such info available
