Despite everything today (and, well, every day lately) I'm setting myself a challenge today to try to model and handpaint an asset end-to-end by end of the day. Not sure if it'll be good enough to make it all the way into the game, but maybe it can be an easter egg/hidden unlock.

Here goes ...

Got waylaid yesterday, but back on it today. (Ignore the shite geometry while in progress; lots of ripping and extruding 😅)

Added some detail, and a place for the lava to flow into. Cleaning up icky geometry took a while, but I think I am /finally/ ready to add some seams, unwrap, then head to painting. We'll see how much I have left in the tank tonight 😪

UV mapping, seams, and whatnot are /finally/making sense to me. Now I just need to pack this a little better than the default and maximize the UV surface area. #LearningOnTheJob

You should try the Mio3 blender extension! It adds a bunch of tools that help uving make sense, like orienting them to the world instead of being rotated every which way. It's free of course: extensions.blender.org/add-ons/mio3...
