as a fan of the form I believe that there has never been a worse period in the entire history of stand up comedy. I genuinely don't know if any other art form has ever reached a nadir this low

This new, bafflingly popular style of "comedy" isn't about writing or telling jokes, but is essentially Cards Against Humanity mixed with Charades. You say words in a surprising order and then you do act outs.

even the fuckin shane gillis monologue. you can make that joke if you're funny enough. you can pretty much make nearly any joke if it's funny enough! but it's not, because he fucking sucks shit just as bad an any of the rest of them. it's the worst anything has ever been.
