"Supergirl" is one of the worst superhero movies I've ever watched. It's actually so bad that I can't finish it in 3 days... ๐Ÿ˜… I think they cast the right person for the job (Milly Alcock), but the plot is soooo dumb I can't believe anyone decided it's a good idea to go with it.

Oh an BTW: I think James Gunn can still do fun stuff, he just missed here. His "patriot" TV show is pretty entertaining, at least for one season.

Do you know the comedic YouTube channel "pitch meeting"? Go look up the Supergirl pitch meeting, it's better than the movie. BTW, agreed, casting looked pretty good, even Lobo was well cast and *completely useless and pointless*.

TIL about the channel. I'll check it out! Yeah, I also wondered about Lobo as he didn't add much to the movie, if anything. For me the two most absurd things were: - the plot with the villains who go to steal some swords in a very tech advanced society - the poisoning of Krypto Writing is hard!

I absolutely loved it. And the reason is because I went into it thinking โ€œthis is going to be a comic book movie and itโ€™s not anything besides that.โ€ I like the โ€œGuardiansโ€ vibe without being a โ€œjoke a minuteโ€ movie. Was it the best movie ever, nah. But I think it was solid for the genre.

I obviously don't expect much from comic book movies, but the plot was really thin even by the low standards of the genre. Would have been nice if there was a bit of depth to the supporting characters as well. I do think they aimed to make something in the spirit of "Guardians", but fell flat.

I think thatโ€™s a fair assessment. The plot was just backdrop to tell SGs origin story in a non linear way really. It was supposed to be comic book simple I think, for that reason. But I can understand it not having enough heft too. To me it felt like a 3-4 issue arc.
