access to Bonjour/zeroconf isn't it?

TLDR: Locally hosted servers are not accessible by default on iDevices - possibly to prevent cyber attacks. Example: NAS on LAN, or anything with an IP typically starting with "192.168." - sometimes it *can* be different, possibly IPs starting with "10." These require permission for apps to talk to.

It syncs faster since it doesn’t have to hit a cloud server, just makes your phone and your laptop sync directly. More a nice-to-have, and as others have pointed out, I would not allow it for e.g. Facebook — but for a small, reputable company like Things, I allow it.

There is no need to open Bonjor to anything else than apps that want to use your printer
