Erich von Däniken and _Chariots of the Gods_ come from a different, less cynical time. The book’s original title is _Remembrances of the Future_, which describes its appeal in a nutshell: that we were on the cusp of discovering something wonderful. Turns out, we were to discover the idiotic “AI.”
