When they said they wanted to experience the story, the people (there were several) chimed in with spoilers: "all you miss is this, this, and this" - all major events with impactful scenes and dialog. Like they were trying to be helpful somehow? Disgusting.

I don't disagree with your sentiment, but I'd like to offer a different perspective. To get good enough at a game to be speed running it, you generally have to really like it to spend the time learn the different techs and glitches. Maybe the difference is a personal level vs community sentiment
