about youtube raising the minimum shorts view/public watch hour requirement for YPP, yes its a bar risen, yes the path to monetization is now longer in detriment to small channels.. but as someone who has grown 2 channels to the monetization eligiblity threshold now its honestly not smth i rlly mind

the last time yt has risen the minimum threshold for monetization (as in, getting paid via ads) was in 2018. that was a loooong time ago. the platform has grown since then. this might be an hot take or not but quite frankly you wouldnt earn that much money from just 1k subs+4k watch hours anyway

at least they're not kicking out small channels from YPP like they did in 2018 just because they don't meet the then-new eligibility requirements of 1k subs+4k watch hours

side note: if youtube's main motivation behind doing this is actually getting even more $$$ for themselves im not surprised ...and in which case no thank you. at the end of this day this is still making YPP harder to achieve for smaller channels.
