Also check out the "Betterfox" project, it made a noticeable diff to performance for me. And maybe even the "Zen" browser - it's Firefox under the hood and I've heard good things.

I made the switch back to Firefox about 6 years ago in an effort to de-google. From my experience you need a Chromium-based browser ready to sub in (I use Brave) when websites don't play nice with Firefox... sadly the web is optimised for Chromium.
