Seeing demos and playtests get ripped lately got me looking for ways to make my game’s code harder to reverse-engineer. I came across "GDPP", which compiles GDScript to native code and early tests with my game "Teufelskreis" look very promising! #Godot #IndieDev #GameDev

Are there actual cases of games getting stolen through stealing the demo code? Been seeing a lot of talk about it but haven’t seen any actual cases yet

Thank you for sharing! I’d been hearing a lot about it but this is the first case someone has been able to point me to On one hand it sucks but on the other hand this isn’t new either: flappy bird, the Dark and Darker saga, Jump Ship vs Void Crew, etc all happened before AI was a thing

Still, couldn’t hurt to do the encryption, keep non-demo content out of the demo builds, and only release a demo 1-2 months before actual launch probably helps a lot in preventing all of this

Yeah true. If a big multi million dollar game gets ripped - OK. Unavoidable at some point. But i feel like someone with a bigger marketing budget could frontrun your game very easily nowadays.

Oh yeah i remember reading about at least two devs that got their game demo republished on chinese game storefronts and roblox. There are also lots of devs i've seen that postponed releasing their demo because of this.
