It is exhausting to look into what looks like a neat hack or homebrew game for a retro system and then learn that the “author” just slopped it up through Claude or whatever the fuck until they got something that (maybe) ran properly.

Every single hobby I love has has been infected by slopped up and unserious software. It's exhausting. aftermath.site/ai-slop-hobbie...

I met my heroes from Atari (Crane, Fulop, Decuir, Warshaw, Frye) at WOA98 and CGE99. It was cool to talk with people who knew the hardware. So maybe use AI to help learn coding, but then do the actual work yourself. If I can do it with AI, then I'm not interested in your AI junk. And be original.

What's truly astounding to me is how many of these projects are just single-game ports that don't do their one job as well as a 20-year-old emulator does, yet they get tons of clout in these weird circles regardless. Not even offering new things and they still trip over each other to pump it.
