Tired: Don’t let authoritarian gain institutional power Decisively guard democratic system Build coalitions, resist authoritarian movement Address eco/social conditions that dumb populations to authoritarian appeal Don’t be naive about bad faith actors who exploit /work to destroy democratic process

Wired: Typical democratic advice only works in some contexts It is not possible to reason with movements that view violence as a political tool, don’t respect democratic norms, are willing to apply force, and that build on grievance and revenge

On 🔥: - maintain democratic principles - recognize bad faith actors who make institutional responses futile - build defensive capabilities before needed - create strong community networks of mutual support - be prepared to actively resist, not just debate - understand power trumps moral argument
