Here’s an idea: give Ukraine the license to make patriots and some patriots. After they’re making them they can send new ones back to us if we still need. Inexcusable to be short on interceptors and not allow greater manufacturing It’s a sin

Ukraine would likely be able to out-manufacture the US Supplier for less money. That would cut profits for the maker and stop the US military slush funds to defense contractors.

It could never happen (now) bc all they care about is putting money their pockets. They don’t care about how many or few of anything we have or need without being putting big money in their pockets. They don’t care if ppl, military die and they already are They’re treated as suckers & we know it

These are complex systems with a lot of custom integrated circuits. Unless they give Ukraine the approval to buy the U.S. chips from the manufacturer ... I doubt Ukraine would ever be able to build one.

Hard to imagine it being practical Ukraine making Patriots themselves. They could only keep the factory location a secret for so long before... BOOM! Better for licences go to neighbouring NATO members - e.g. Poland - with Ukraine getting first dibs on whatever they make.

AMERICA IS THE DECOY PLANE. It’s all intentional. The draining of the treasury. The degrading of our military, demoralizing troops. The division stirred among us. Trump is a traitor taking orders from a foreign power. AMERICA IS THE DECOY PLANE. The question is: Are Republicans in on it?

*Not "likely", certainly: Ukraine is the lowest cost location to produce weapons in the free world due to lowest labor cost. Ukrainian men working in arms industry are exempt from war conscription. This is an employment motivation stronger than a thrice higher salary somewhere in EU or US Midwest.

If all Ukraine is waiting for is a license/permission and they don't need anything else. What the hell are they waiting for? #ConvictedFelonDonaldTrump DIDN'T GET PERMISSION TO BULLDOZE, START WAR, INVADE an airline CATERING CONTAINER and EVEN AFTER PROMISING BEING ORDERED BY LAW HE STILL REFUSES TO

Send it directly to Bejin and Moscow . Not talking about the complexity of manufacturing such missiles plus the lack of protected facilities plus money and time to prepare qualified personnel, buy and install and configure equipment, etc. Billions of dollars and years provided no russian attacks

I find Trump's position with our allies a bit schizophrenic. In one sense, he wants them to pay more for their defense. But he doesn't want to help them build up their military base, so they can be more self-sufficient. We should be finding ways to help our allies overall in this area.

Its actually a really good idea. Ukraine is proving to be very resourceful and very good when it comes to mass production of drones. Trump claims he is concerned about Patriots falling in the hands of the enemy, but he's totally fine giving the Saudis access to nuclear power, when MBS

has said that he would have no problem building a nuke, if the circumstances warrant it. And Saudi Arabia is more of a concern than Ukraine at this point. Plus can't we have a partnership with Ukraine where we send people overseas to supervise it with Ukrainian workers to minimize the risk?

Problem with giving Ukraine a PAC-3 license: military-industrial complex, as in Lockheed Martin, plus subcontractors like Boeing & Aerojet Rocketdyne, will do anything to protect their fat profits & US jobs.

Whenever Trump does something you can't explain, all you have to ask yourself is this "Who in his inner circle is profiting off of it?"

If interceptor missiles are truly in short supply, production should be expanded as soon as possible. Ultimately, maintaining adequate defenses is about protecting lives.

Or how about this? Give the license for everything but the supposedly too sensitive to license (30 yr old) K-band radar/seeker and have a US company (it's Boeing's IP) in charge or manufacturing and integration of just that portion of the design.

That may play a role and in the sense force us to pay less for future interceptors, which I think is good. But there is no way that foreign military companies will be able to meet our needs either, and we still have to rely on our own military production base.

Welcome to late stage hyper capitalism and a corrupt oligarchy that only cares about profit and power. These executives and those in health insurance and some pharmaceutical companies should spend 200 days on a forgotten carrier and then about ten years in prison!

The capital class doesn't want to produce, they just want to take. The entire economy is a bunch of rent-seeking leeches looking for someone that still has blood to suck that hasn't already been consumed by the other leeches.

I wish people in your position would keep reiterating over and over again. We are contractually obliged to help Ukraine in any way possible. Seriously. How many billions or maybe even trillions of dollars did we save over the decades due to that treaty? It’s time to pay our debt in full.

More proof the Donald Trump should not be in the Oval Office, he replied to a reporter You know what I care about, I don't care about anything And then he proceeded to get on his plane. Does that tell you everything you want to know? They need to invoke the 25th Amendment

What's inexcusable is this illegal war against an unpopular and loathsome nation. It makes it easier to bang the drums when trying to convince an amoral idiot like Trump. And Trump was played like a drum. Don't join the military, kids.

Well, I agree with you, Adam I think the issue is they really are only a limited number of companies that make the component parts in the supply chain and the United States doesn’t want to be competing with Ukraine for those component parts

I’m all for Ukraine getting more and winning. BUT, would it not be easier/quicker, more secure, and provide jobs here in the USA to spin up extra production in America? Win win win. Not a huge fan of moving production to a war zone bordering Russia as the solution.

I’d like to see Europe stop the incrementalism. Of many fantasies I have the one I wish for most is they seize Kaliningrad and return it to Koenigsburg. It’s surrounded by NATO and would make pootie worry about a second front, so to speak.

It would probably be cheaper to assemble them in Ukraine. Lower wages and a very engaged workforce willing to work around the clock. The concerns about proximity are valid, though. Unfortunately, this looks like another broken Trump promise. He lives in the moment and is unconcerned with the future.

What bothers me is that Trump Admin didn't get Congress onboard, didn't explain to the public why the war was necessary, didn't prepare for the drones that nearly everyone knew would be used, didn't consider the closing of Strait of Hormuz, and still Trump has supporters.

The examples of incompetence continues. It was long known the Strait of Hormuz vulnerability was a challenge taking on Iran. This administration was obviously not aware it takes 2 years to build a Patriot missile (correct me if I am wrong) as it depleted our supply.

Let's not forget that everything he touches dies, along with his henchmen. They are determined to ruin everything in our country. Seems they are doing a fine job of that and seemingly operating without check.

They tried, The company that builds realized Ukraine can build them faster for less money and the deal was cut off. Corporate greed takes precedence over lives unfortunately. Fuck these companies Ukraine 🇺🇦 Steal the tech, build your defense, ‘We The People’ will support this once we’ve executed🍊💩☠️

This is the fault of the manufacturer that I predicted when I heard that Trump was “offering” Ukraine the license to produce missiles. Man. is protecting their PI. Japan has a lic., but certain components arrive already built to protect company PI. Those components have delivery issues.

tRump either lied as usual, and never intended to allow Ukraine to manufacturer Patriots, or someone changed his mind. Those are defensive weapons, so the only certain thing is that it's not about "Ukraine turning against the US". Could it be about US manufacturers losing money?

I thought this was so obvious that they'd actually do it... But that's too close to helping someone else in the process, and...Heaven forbid!

Yeah but how are the CEO's and shareholders going to get even richer than they already are if you start allowing others to build their products? Also this would cut into their milking the US taxpayers for every last dime they've got. Why are you being so insensitive to the rich? /s

As a resident of the UK and I have strong links to Europe, I respect you Adam but I think they're doing it without the US, as the whole of Europe should. bsky.app/profile/poli...

POLITICO Europe@politico.eu

Ukrainian defense tech company Fire Point's first ballistic missile will be ready this fall, its CEO told POLITICO. It’s a crucial development if Kyiv hopes to survive the growing ferocity of Russian missile attacks.

I've a lot of American friends fighting the same fight as the rest of us globally against the right, but Trump gained control in the US, why we now desperately seek to re-establish ourselves, both defensively and economically independently. I recently visited Canada Trump has turned on his allies.

Domestic manufacturers are petrified the Ukrainians would revolutionize the manufacturing process lowering costs and reducing production times. And they’re probably right.

Whether Putin said no is actually only secondary to Raytheon and Lockheed don't want Ukraine to do that either. They fear if Ukraine does, they will find ways to improve them as well as build them cheaper and that will undercut them.

Komrade Vladimir's bought and sold Republican party and US president would never permit more drones to be made by anyone. After all, if they bought us back to a position of strength Putin and pals would not be in position to attack us and further reduce our country.

Adam, these fucking Russian puppets aren’t gonna do anything that makes sense. They’re only gonna try to enrich themselves and get away before we catch them. We just have to stop them. We can’t talk sense into them. This is Russia overthrowing the United States using Musk. It’s ridiculously clear.

With all the money spent on the military over the last 50 years and we can't keep missiles in stock. But MAGA will get their ballroom that they will get to view from a distance.
