Every time I get a Pixel update trying to force me to use Gemini, the features I actually care about get slower or stop working entirely. My phone now takes over 3 seconds to start taking a screenshot. If I take and edit a photo rn, I can't access it in other apps. It usually ends up duplicated too

When they first added Gemini to Photos, I had to delete every photo stored locally on my phone to get the camera and Photos to work again. This update, they took away the "Web Search" option for selected text. Apps that were running fine now freeze and crash. *Gmail* just froze up during a search 🤦

I'm a long-time GoogleFi customer. I've had a Pixel phone for at least 10 years. This one's only 2.5 years old. I've weathered some truly awful bugs - I couldn't send texts with attachments for years. None of that felt as bad as this deliberate enshittification.

Even if I wanted Gemini features, I don't want them at the expense of a working phone. Why would I buy a Pixel again?

I'm also going to make a plan for getting rid of our Google smart home devices too. I'm not giving Gemini access to video cameras, and without Assistant, I can't control my Hue devices. Before I figured out how to turn it off entirely, Gemini repeatedly failed at turning lights on and off. 🤦

My most recent complaints: Gemini starts listening when I plug the ice rink aux cable into my phone?? Today I asked it to "navigate to Guiry's in Littleton" and it started navigating to "Q's Bar and Grill" without repeating anything back so I only realized when I saw a turn that didn't make sense

Also! "Hey Google, set a timer for [X time]" was one of my most common uses of Google Assistant. The new UI for this is so bad it makes the timers useless for what I usually need them for

YES I literally chucked our kitchen Google speaker thing when the set a timer function became useless. I turned Gemini off and haven't consented to turning it back on, so now everything that triggers it just shows me the consent screen 🤣
